The Dr. Dennis Larkin Scholarship Program

This academic scholarship provides full financial support for up to two Ghanaian students for the IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12.

Introduction

Through the generous support of parents of Lincoln Community School, LCS is proud to announce a scholarship program named for its retired Head of School, Dr. Dennis Larkin. The Dr. Dennis Larkin Scholarship seeks to support two deserving Ghanaian students with an international world-class education for two years in grade 11 and grade 12, equivalent to SH2 and SH3.

The International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme is recognized by universities around the world as ensuring a high standard of university preparatory education for students. In the words of the IB “Students graduating with the IB diploma are able to study at universities all around the world, often with advanced credit.

Students report that their involvement with the IB has given them the tools need to succeed at college, In particular, students comment on their sense of preparedness, self-confidence, research skills, and their ability to manage their time. Even more important, they have developed a sense of the world around them and their responsibility to it.

Expectations and Eligibility

Dr. Dennis Larkin Scholarship recipients will:

  • Be highly motivated, flexible thinkers demonstrating open mindedness with a strong desire to be part of an international community.
  • Be at least 16 years of age on August 31 2024.
  • Have completed the BECE with an aggregate score of 6.
  • Have three years of strong academic records including the current year and JHS years.
  • Be a resident of Accra.

Please note:

Only qualified applicants that meet 100% of the eligibility requirements will be notified of the next round.

LCS will begin acepting applications for the 2025-26 school year in mid-January of 2025. 
Applications will then close in mid-February, 2025.
