About LCS

A welcome from Lesley Tait 

‘Akwaaba’ is a word in the Twi language which means ‘Welcome’. So I say ‘Akwaaba’ and welcome you to Lincoln Community School (LCS). My name is Lesley Tait and it is my honor to lead LCS as the Head of School. I joined LCS at the start of the 2021 – 2022 school which was right in the middle of the pandemic. Even though the school could not open physically for in-person school I was immediately struck by the resilience and positive attitude of the faculty, students and parents. Community is at the heart of Lincoln and it was the strength of that community that allowed the school to come through the pandemic and continue to flourish afterwards.

The 2023-24 school marked the 55th anniversary of Lincoln Community School and what a remarkable milestone we’ve reached. This achievement is a testament to the dedication and resilience of our entire community, during these many years.

As we celebrate this special occasion, we draw inspiration from the adinkra symbol “Sankofa,” reminding us to honor the past as we forge ahead into the future. LCS has aged with grace, blending tradition with innovation to become the institution it is today.

Reflecting on the past 55 years fills me with pride. Our school has been a beacon of excellence, shaping lives and leaving a lasting impact on our community. Each year has woven its own unique thread into the fabric of our history, adding depth and character to our story and as you look through our website, I hope you will feel the strength of our community and history.

Whether you are new to Lincoln Community School and Ghana or are returning to start a new academic year, I welcome you to our school and look forward to seeing you in person soon.
